After arriving in Yangon early in the morning on the JJ Night Bus, we headed straight to our reserved guesthouse. Thanks to the host’s kindness, we could check in early, drop off our bags, and head out for a much-needed breakfast at Lucky Seven Tea House.
The delicious tea and pudding were just what we needed to re-energize after a long bus ride. By noon, after a nap to recover from the journey, we ventured out to explore Bogyoke Aung San Museum, the historical home of Myanmar’s national hero.

Navigating Yangon’s local buses was now second nature to us, but even experienced travelers can get turned around. As our bus unexpectedly changed directions, we hopped off near a lively local market. The colorful stalls bursting with fresh fruits were a pleasant surprise, but when the narrow paths led us into a seemingly unsafe neighborhood, we decided to take a taxi to the museum instead.
