Main Journey of Da Nang family travel
Navigating the Heat to Reach the Hotel
Arriving in Da Nang during the sweltering midday heat was no easy feat, especially with Sweetie (our 26-month-old) unexpectedly falling asleep on the bus. This meant adjusting our original plan for carrying gear and Sweetie.
Our initial setup was:
- Hugh: backpack + baby carrier
- Julie: backpack + daily backpack
However, with Sweetie asleep and the sun blazing down, Julie couldnโt manage the load over the 700 meters to the hotel. So, we quickly revised our strategy:
- Hugh: two large backpacks (over 40kg combined)
- Julie: daily backpack + baby carrier with Sweetie
Carrying the extra load reminded me of my military daysโ40kg felt like a fully packed march, but the short distance to the hotel was manageable. Julie had a harder time since Sweetieโs carrier obstructed her view of the ground, but we managed to push through.
Rest and Recovery at Our Da Nang Hotel
The moment we stepped into our hotel, the relief was instant. The air conditioning brought Sweetie back to life almost like magic. This cozy little haven became our “Home No. 3” for the trip, and it was perfect for recharging after the intense heat.
Once settled, we headed up to the rooftop pool. The view of My Khe Beach from the pool was stunning, and the cool water refreshed all of us. Sweetieโs energy returned as she paddled in the water, and we couldnโt help but smile as other guests marveled at her cuteness, comparing her to a doll.
Exploring Da Nangโs Streets
By late afternoon, the heat had eased just enough for us to venture out in search of food. The bustling streets of Da Nang awaited, and we were ready to experience the local flavors.

Tips for Traveling with a Child
1. Adapting Plans on the Go
Flexibility is key when traveling with a toddler. Sweetie falling asleep meant we had to adjust our packing strategy. Always have a backup plan for carrying gear, especially during unexpected situations.
2. Pack for Comfort in Hot Weather
Da Nangโs midday heat is no joke. Keep essentials like sunscreen, hats, and plenty of water accessible. For toddlers, an insulated water bottle can be a lifesaver.
3. Choose Accommodation with Amenities
Booking a hotel with a pool turned out to be a great decision. Not only did it provide Sweetie with some fun, but it was also a refreshing escape for the whole family.

Local Travel Tips
1. Plan Around the Heat
Da Nangโs peak heat hours can make outdoor travel challenging. Schedule activities for early morning or late afternoon, and use the midday for rest or indoor fun.
2. Stay Near Key Attractions
Our hotelโs proximity to My Khe Beach and the local markets saved us a lot of time and effort. When traveling with a child, convenience is everything.
3. Engage with Locals
Vietnamese locals are incredibly warm and often fascinated by toddlers. Whether in the pool or on the streets, they might approach you with friendly smiles and kind words.
