After a satisfying meal in Hoi An, we strolled along the Thu Bon River, soaking in the peaceful ambiance. The warm glow of the night was truly enchanting, but I couldn’t help feeling wistful. If this were a vacation rather than a stop on our world tour, we would’ve lingered longer, indulging in every moment.

Near the iconic Japanese Bridge, we saw couples posing for wedding photos. Sweetie, ever curious, asked, “What are they doing?” Julie, with her usual warmth, replied, “They’re taking wedding pictures. Mommy and Daddy got married too, and that’s why you’re here!” Moments like this make traveling with a child so delightful.

However, the picturesque scenery was occasionally marred by an unpleasant smell from the river and floating debris. It reminded us that even in beauty, there are imperfections.

The atmosphere was chaotic, with seven women working tirelessly to assemble the sandwiches while customers vied for attention. Despite the frenzy, the banh mi was worth it – delicious and reasonably priced. Reflecting on the experience, I couldn’t help but compare it to the less-than-stellar banh mi we had on De Tham Street earlier on our trip.

Returning to the Hotel

With sandwiches in hand, we embarked on a 30 km scooter ride back to our hotel. The day felt unusually long, and exhaustion weighed on all of us. But as we toasted with banh mi in hand, celebrating the completion of another scooter adventure, the day’s challenges melted away.
