Main Journey in Marble Mountain Da Nang
From Da Nang Cathedral to Marble Mountain
After a satisfying meal at a local favorite Bun Cha Ca 109, followed by a sweet treat of Che nearby, we hopped on our scooter to visit Marble Mountain in southern Da Nang. The scenic ride, about 20 minutes from the city center, was a perfect chance to enjoy the bustling yet somehow harmonious Vietnamese traffic cultureโa mesmerizing dance of vehicles and scooters.
Along the way, we exchanged USD for VND at a gold shop near Da Nang Cathedral, where we got one of the best exchange rates: 100 USD = 2,260,000 VND. Surprisingly, even Ho Chi Minh airport had offered a slightly higher rate, a mystery we couldnโt solve but appreciated nonetheless.
Exploring Marble Mountain
Marble Mountain (Ngลฉ Hร nh Sฦกn) is an impressive cluster of limestone and marble hills rising abruptly from the flatlands of Da Nang. The site is famous for its intricate caves, pagodas, and stunning views of the surrounding area.
Arrival and Parking
Upon arrival, we were approached by unofficial parking attendants, but we opted for the official lot near the main entrance. Parking fees were minimalโjust 3,000 VND (about $0.15 USD)โand provided peace of mind, ensuring we wouldn’t have to deal with another missing scooter scare.
We decided to skip the Am Phu Cave at the 15th gate and head straight to the main ticket booth for the full experience. Tickets were 40,000 VND per adult, with an additional 15,000 VND for the elevator. Since the summit didnโt seem too high, we chose to hike up instead.
Key Highlights
Linh Ung Pagoda
After a short but steep climb, we reached the Linh Ung Pagoda, a serene structure surrounded by greenery. Sunlight filtering through the leaves added a magical glow, making the effort worthwhile.
Huyen Khong Cave
The true gem of the mountain was Huyen Khong Cave. As we stepped inside, the sheer size of the space took our breath away. Illuminated by natural light filtering through openings above, the cave exuded a deeply spiritual and mysterious ambiance. Continuing through the caves and trails, we reached the Tam Thai Pagoda and eventually the Viewpoint at station 14. The contrast of flat plains with the sudden rise of the mountains created a unique and picturesque scene.

Bring sunscreen, hats, and water bottles. Sweetie’s delicate skin turned red quickly, even with limited sun exposure during our scooter ride.
3. Skip the Elevator
If your child is comfortable with a short climb, skipping the elevator adds an element of adventure. However, for those with strollers or very young children, the elevator can be a lifesaver.

Always opt for official parking areas to avoid scams. Keep your ticket handy as itโs required for both entry and exit.
